Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel,
(2 Timothy 2:8 NASB)
We forget when we lie, act out of anger, or fail to share the truth of God when opportunities arise
Peter denying Christ
Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12 NASB)
- Passover
And
when your children say to you, 'What does this rite mean to you?' you
shall say, 'It is a Passover sacrifice to the LORD who passed over the
houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He smote the Egyptians, but
spared our homes.'" And the people bowed low and worshiped. (Exodus 12:26-27 NASB)
- Law
These
words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You
shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you
sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down
and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and
they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the
doorposts of your house and on your gates.
(Deuteronomy 6:6-9 NASB)
"When
your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What do the testimonies and
the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded
you?' then you shall say to your son, 'We were slaves to Pharaoh in
Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand. Moreover,
the LORD showed great and distressing signs and wonders before our eyes
against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household; He brought us out from
there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to
our fathers.' So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes,
to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it
 is today. (Deuteronomy 6:20-24 NASB)
- Deliverance
Now
when all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD spoke to
Joshua, saying, "Take for yourselves twelve men from the people, one
man from each tribe, and command them, saying, 'Take up for yourselves
twelve stones from here out of the middle of the Jordan, from the place
where the priests' feet are standing firm, and carry them over with you
and lay them down in the lodging place where you will lodge tonight.'"
So Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the sons of
Israel, one man from each tribe; and Joshua said to them, "Cross again
to the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan, and each
of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the
tribes of the sons of Israel. Let this be a sign among you, so that when
your children ask later, saying, 'What do these stones mean to you?'
then you shall say to them, 'Because the waters of the Jordan were cut
off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it crossed the
Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.' So these stones shall
become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever." (Joshua 4:1-7 NASB)
Therefore,
I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you
already know them, and have been established in the truth which is
present with you. I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly
dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, knowing that the laying
aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ
has made clear to me. And I will also be diligent that at any time after
my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.  (2 Peter 1:12-15 NASB)
- Remember Jesus is Alive
- Proves the validity of the Gospel
and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
(1 Corinthians 15:14, 20 NASB)
Or
do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus
have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with
Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of
life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His
death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
(Romans 6:3-5 NASB)
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  (2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB)
knowing
this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body
of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to
sin; for he who has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died with
Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that
Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death
no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin
once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so
consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ
Jesus.  (Romans 6:6-11 NASB)
So
also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it
is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in
glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a
natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body,
there is also a spiritual body.
(1 Corinthians 15:42-44 NASB)
Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the
work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58 NASB)
- Remember that Jesus is Lord
Jesus the Christ, Messiah, Chosen, Annointed
Luke 1
For
a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the
government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There
will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the
throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it
with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of
the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7 NASB)
When
your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise
up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will
establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will
establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him
and he will be a son to Me; when he commits iniquity, I will correct him
with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men, but My
lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul,
whom I removed from before you. Your house and your kingdom shall endure
before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever."'"
(2 Samuel 7:12-16 NASB)
The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
(Matthew 1:1 NASB)
And
He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His
nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had
made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty
on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has
inherited a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:3-4 NASB)
And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND Lord OF LORDS."
(Revelation 19:16 NASB)
Thieves on the cross
We are ashamed of the Gospel and overwhelmed by circumstances because we forget Him.
- Remember that Jesus is the Gospel
He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:25 NASB)
Paul,
a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the
gospel of God, which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the
holy Scriptures, concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of
David according to the flesh, who was declared the Son of God with power
by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness,
Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and
apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles
for His name's sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus
Christ; (Romans 1:1-6 NASB)
Now
I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you,
which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are
saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you
believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I
also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the
Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third
day according to the Scriptures, (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NASB)
fixing
our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy
set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured
such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow
weary and lose heart.
(Hebrews 12:2-3 NASB)
For
I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the
Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He
had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for
you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way He took the cup also
after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do
this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as
you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death
until He comes.
(1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NASB)
"Do this" is a command, not a suggestion,
