In
the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and
keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord
suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them;
and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not
be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be
for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born
for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you:
you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." And
suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth
peace among men with whom He is pleased." When the angels had gone away
from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let
us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened
which the Lord has made known to us." So they came in a hurry and found
their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When
they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told
them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which
were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things,
pondering them in her heart. The shepherds went back, glorifying and
praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told
 them. (Luke 2:8-20 NASB)
Reasons we don't share
- Lack of confidence to organize our thoughts
- Lack of conviction regarding unbelievers future
- Lack of concern for the punishment that they face
- The Gospel is from God (v.8-9)- God is Holy- Unapproachable light

But He said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!" (Exodus 33:20 NASB)
- God is awesome- Appearance of his messengers (Angels)

 And
an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the
altar of incense. Zacharias was troubled when he saw the angel, and fear
 gripped him.
(Luke 1:11-12 NASB)
Now
in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in
Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was
Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And
coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with
you." But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering
what kind of salutation this was. The angel said to her, "Do not be
afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. (Luke 1:26-30 NASB)
When
He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep
water and let down your nets for a catch." Simon answered and said,
"Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as
You say and let down the nets." When they had done this, they enclosed a
great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break; so they signaled
to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And
they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink. But
when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus' feet, saying, "Go
away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!" For amazement had seized him
and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had
taken;
(Luke 5:4-9 NASB)
Now
on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He
said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they
launched out. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a
fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped
and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying,
"Master, Master, we are perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind
and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said
to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to
one another, "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the
water, and they obey Him?" (Luke 8:22-25 NASB)
- God is Gracious
- The Gospel is for Sinners- Given to "all the people"
- Presented to shepherds- Low end of social order
- Uneducated
- Low character
- Religiously "Unclean"

- Not help for good people, but salvation for sinners
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."(Luke 4:16-19 NASB)After that He went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and He said to him, "Follow Me." And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow Him. And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them. The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?" And Jesus answered and said to them, " It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." (Luke 5:27-32 NASB)Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with him, and He entered the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table. And there was a woman in the city who was a sinner; and when she learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster vial of perfume, and standing behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet He would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner." And Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he replied, "Say it, Teacher." "A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?" Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have judged correctly." Turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave Me no kiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." Then He said to her, "Your sins have been forgiven." Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this man who even forgives sins?" And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace." (Luke 7:36-50 NASB)Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them." So He told them this parable, saying, "What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:1-7 NASB)A ruler questioned Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments, 'DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'" And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth." When Jesus heard this, He said to him, "One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." They who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?" But He said, "The things that are impossible with people are possible with God." (Luke 18:18-27 NASB)For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." (Luke 19:10 NASB)
- The Gospel is Good News
The
angel answered and said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the
presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you
this good news. (Luke 1:19 NASB)
So with many other exhortations he preached the gospel (Good News) to the people. (Luke 3:18 NASB)
And
He answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen
and heard: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT, the lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the POOR HAVE THE
GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. (Luke 7:22 NASB)
Departing, they began going throughout the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
(Luke 9:6 NASB)
"The
Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the
gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing
his way into it. (Luke 16:16 NASB)
On
one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and
preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders
confronted Him, (Luke 20:1 NASB)
Get
yourself up on a high mountain, O Zion, bearer of good news, Lift up
your voice mightily, O Jerusalem, bearer of good news; Lift it up, do
not fear. Say to the cities of Judah, "Here is your God!" (Isaiah 40:9 NASB)
It's
not about rules, or actions, or traditions, or religion!  It is about a
person.  It is about Jesus, giving up his power and position on high,
to come to earth as a man, to live a perfect, sinless life, to teach
about how to live in a way that glorifies God, and to suffer and die as a
substitute for all sinners who are called by the Father.
